Gareth Davies talks Frog and Progress at Whalley Range

The managing director and co-founder of Frog Education (an award winning learning platform used by the school) took time out of his busy schedule to talk progress with staff, be interviewed by Year 9 Computing students, and surprise a few winners of our Frog Oscars competition.

We were delighted to welcome Gareth and Ramsey Al-Chalaby (Product Manager at Frog) who were keen to hear from Miss Lashley and Mrs Wragg about our assessment without levels framework, with a view to enhancing Frog Progress, a smart assessment feature of their platform.

Following this Gareth spoke with students on our radio station about the company and his role within. When asked what qualifications you need to work for Frog Gareth explained that it was more about character:

We don’t demand degrees at Frog. It depends on somebody’s attitude, and whether they work hard, whether they’re ambitious, more than just what qualifications they’ve got. We think that you can teach people facts but you can’t necessarily make them want to succeed.

Lastly, to round off a very productive day, Gareth presented prizes to student winners of our Frog Oscars competition. Every year we like to put on a whole school competition to drum up interest in Frog, reward students who make good use of the platform, and thank staff who are implementing new and innovative ideas, and who better to present the awards than the managing director of the company.

We’d like to thank Gareth and Ramsey for coming in to see us and we look forward to seeing the next products and features from Frog Education.
